WAHL Professional is a North American company founded in 1919 by Leo J. Wahl, who patented the first electric hair clipper that same year. This innovation established the corporation as a leader in both professional and home hair care within its category.
In 1967, the company introduced the first cordless rechargeable clipper, which was launched on the market in 1971, immediately capturing over 90% of the North American clipper market. In 1987, the company invented the first curling iron and began manufacturing various types of hair dryers. In 1996, WAHL acquired the German clipper manufacturers MOSER and ERMILA, becoming the largest clipper manufacturer in the world. The product range quickly expanded, and the company introduced the first hair straightener to the market.
In 2009, WAHL celebrated its 90th anniversary as a pioneer in professional and home hair care products.
To date, WAHL employs over 2,200 people, sells its products in 165 countries worldwide, and holds more than 100 patents in its portfolio.
